Other than having warmoth do it for me (which is impossible for an existing
guitar) where can I buy stainless steel frets? or are they one of those rare
items that is extremely expensive?

The wire isn't expensive.

But it is far more difficult to work with from what I've read, and
installation requires different tools and procedures.
