I have came across a tube amp, I think it says "Fender twin reverb" on it.
For some reason it will not distort, is it because this amp isnt made to
distort or do I have to use a fuzzbox to make it distort. Or perhaps it
requires a hidden buttom?
I might look into such an amp because it seems to be an inexpensive tube but
an amp that doesnt distort is no good for me...

two. that will give you more boost. Pull on the Mid channel two little mid
boost. That's how mine works. Dose it have a Master or gain?

Fender twins dont distort easily. Thats why many pedal steel players
like them. They sound great with the right distortion pedal though.

That's why there's a lot of deaf players from the 70s...the only way to get
them to distort is to dime them. And even then, it's not the distortion
you're looking for. By then, you've already done serious damage to your
hearing, of course.
Didn't Johnny Winter play with 3 Twins (or more than that?)

Turn them dudes up to ten and the stock speakers arent gonna last real
long. I got the impression that you were talking about the Silver or
Blackface Twin? The older ones may distort earlier but I'm not sure.

Mostly i play jazz and i love to use a Twin or blackface Dual Showman.
Just because they give me a warm, clean sound at higher volumes. I can
switch between the 2 channels with a Lehle switcbox.
At least they will distort, but beware of the volume!
You can get nice distortion sounds with a Twin on acceptable volume
with some boxes (old tubescreamer).

You're right about the twin not distorting ... It's not a rock amp.
I had some friends who used Twins and pulled one pair of the power
tubes to give it half power and allow more distortion. THey kept the
other pair for outdoor shows, but they still put a Tube Screamer or
Ratt in front for a rock tone.

First of all, there were different Twins Reverbs built over the years.
The early Black Face had 85W, their own tone, defined "surf," and would
distort when turned up loud. My favorite of the Twins.
The next generation had more output (100W) and distorted less. Lots of
guys have used these for CLEAN power. The will distort when LOUD, but
few guys use them for dirty tones. Also a favorite of the country twang
crowd.
Then came the ultralinear models. Those had even MORE power, but sound
sterile to many users. If it says 135W output, I'd avoid it.

This is the one I have http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/twin_reverb_II.html I
would not trade this for any amp. Now when I had it serviced new tubes oil
change, I was told some moods have done. The person I bought has tried to
buy it back. I also wanted a second amp and tried some newer Twins ( 2 years
ago) they sounded more like a big transistor radio, but I will omit I new
nothing about speaker break in. Last new amp was a 1963 Supero.
