Well its been a while since I posted.
I have just returned from overseas and happened to drop by the gold coast
...Australia.
Which I took the opportunity to try out and purchase a Cole Clark Fat Lady 2
with cutaway and pickups.
First impressions ...very interesting looking guitar. Well made and
constructed.
However I noticed it didnt have any binding inside...which in theory should
help the sound.
Australian woods but I did notice with the satin finish that it damaged
easily ...soft.
The body is fat ...ie Fat Lady....fatter than my existing acoustics.
Now for the imteresting part ..the body...top and back are made of thicker
solid wood....but routed out to make it thinner..allowing for more resinance
?
A beautiful looking guitar but with its own unique sound. For those used to
a warm round sound will be dissapointed ..... I compare it with a
Martin....crisp sound with a lot of bass and high end ...but admitingly not
a lot in the middle range....it will be interesting to see how the guitar
develops in time as it ages.
It came with Elixir strings but I am interested to hear it with another
brand of string which I use on my other accoustics.
The Elixir strings are supposed to sound better and last longer ...the cost
twice the price of normal strings.
I have already noticed they are touch on my struming fingers causing
blisters for the first time in my life playing guitars.
All in all ....even though I bought it....
Looks .....9/10
Playability 9/10 would give a ten but for the stings causing blisters.
Sound 8/10
Value 8/10
Durability 7 / 10 ...body damages easily ( gloss finish could help with
durability)
