Fender Tube Amp Service in the Midwest? - Russ S - 17:51 30-11-05

All,
I'm located in the middle of nowhere as far as tube amp technicians are
concerned, (eastern Iowa, western Illinois), and have exhausted my efforts
to find someone locally to service a 1976 SF Champ amp. I'm a complete idiot
when it comes to electronics, but the lil feller has developed a severe hiss
at idle, and I fear for his life. Any suggestions for anyone within driving
range, or any recommendations for a "mail order" service center? I'm not
above pulling the chassis, and shipping it if need be, but I'd like
recommendations and references if possible. Also, I'm not above spending a
little cash getting it back to normal, but don't want to get gouged
either.........Anyone have any experiences or suggestions?
TIA
R
