Musicians Friend reviews - Mack - 18:13 30-11-05

I tried to post a balanced review of a guitar on musiciansfriend.com. It was
never posted (I submitted it a month ago). I think they screen their
reviews! I wouldn't trust Musician's Friend! I wrote to ask them why they
never printed it. They never replied.

Post it again. I see negative reviews there as well.

I have bought several guitars and other items from MF. I have been very
pleased with all transactions. One time I had bought an american strat.
I did not play it very much. I noticed that small lines had formed in
various places on the body. You could not feel them but definitely see
them. I sent it back after the warranty period was over and even though
the price went up almost $200 they sent me another one in the color of
my choice (different than the original color). I was very happy! I have
no idea why they did not post your review, but, I would not discount
them because of that.

Well I've seen an awful lot of negative posts on their site. It's hard to
believe they'd delete balanced reviews and keep highly negative ones. FWIW
I've bought from them many times in the past and have always been completely
satisfied.

If you read through them, you will find plenty of negative and balanced
reviews as well as the raves. It would not surprise me if they have
people scanning the reviews for inappropriate language and content.
That could take some time.

Mine to weeks to appear, maybe even over a month. It also mentioned
problems and a MF offer of partial refund. If they screened, you'd
think that they'd "86" that one, because they probably don't want the
general public to know that they often offer a partial refund of MONEY
to resolve issues.

Re: Musicians Friend reviews -

I've only had one problem with MF. It wasn't screened reviews. It
wasn't quality, customer service and especially not price. I even had
UPS loose an item (delivered to the wrong address down the street
according to their own records) and when I informed MF of the problem
they simply quickly shipped a duplicate item and took over the battle
with UPS for me! Nice!

BUT the PROBLEM with MF is that to order they DEMAND your email
address. And then no matter how much you request they not SPAM you and
request to be taken off the "newsletter" list they refuse to stop. I
even tried going into my MF account and changing the email address. No
soap. MF SPAM still kept coming. Eventually I had to shut off the email
account to stop them. So now I only order things from them when it's a
really super bargain (and they do have those from time to time that I
can't resist!). But to order, I create an email alias just for MF and
give them that. Then use that address to communicate until the order is
shipped and received by me. Then, once I'm happy I just kill the email
alias to shut off their SPAM. My guess is that they have too much
business and are irritating customers to trim it down a tad. Works for
me!

If anyone recalls how in love I am with my Ibanez S470 dxqm youll know the
review I wrote for Musicians Friend was nothing but glowing. They never put
it up. Not even a snippet. Im not sure what theyre criteria for posting
reviews are.

Re: Musicians Friend reviews - JAS - 23:45 03-12-05

I posted a review of a guitar which had both positive and negative issues.
They posted it about three months later, I think that's par for their
reviews.
