Web link to good instructions for blocking a Strat trem? - Mark Jones - 17:35 27-11-05

The guitar cost me $100, so I don't want to pay money for a Callaham
block -- I want to make my own.
Thanks.

Really, you don't need to pay anything or actually add parts, unless you
don't have the four or five springs. All you need to do is remove the
backplate, install the extra springs and tighten the claw some.

If you do want to physically block the bridge, once the springs are in
place, cut and fit a piece of wood to fit on the other side of the bridge
block so that it can't move. The springs will keep you from trying to fit
the piece onto the wrong side of the block.

I never sought instructions... I found a good piece of hard wood and cut it
to size.... Then, realizing that my place of employment has it's own Sheet
Metal shop, I just grabbed some chunks of scrap aluminum and wedged them
into 3 of my guitars with Strat bridges and Kahlers...

QUITE a difference in sustain. Not stuff that you can only see on a scope
- an AUDIBLE difference. I've never taken them out....
