Sometime you just get lucky and you hit that sweet spot wit your equipment
and it sounds good. I have a THD Univlave and a Vox 2-12 cab. I've been
trying different tubes and found this combination of gear to produce a sweet
sound even with questionable products in the line-up. PRS McCarty in to a
Digitech RP-7 ( eek!) straight in to the Rock input on the Univalve. EH 6V6
power tube and two JAN GE 12ATWC pre amp tubes into a Vox 2-12 Cabinet (
open back) with what appears to be their equivalent of the Celestion V30.
I'm using the Digitech just for the reverb but am looking for a decent
pedal. The combo of the 6V6 and 12ATWC's makes it sooooooo smooth and
responsive. No bad pickup combinations in sight. Big bold and just right for
smooth jazz/blues/country. Damn loud and I wouldn't imagine you would need
louder for the lounge like gigs I have. I have an Ernie Ball Albert lee that
can kick in a little more of the Fender country vibe if needed. I'm
listening to some Robben Ford and I can hear this setup ( now if I can jut
cop those licks)
Thanks for letting ramble.
