Marlin Amp ? Bad, but exactly how bad? - Darren - 10:17 19-11-05

Had a Marlin amp for my Gibson Les Paul, as a practice amp, for many
many years now, but I spruce up the sound with a Boss MT2 and DD3.
Could never afford a Marshall, all the money was spent on the guitar!
Then I got married and now I have to justify the price!!! LOL

Anyone heard of these amps? I know they're cheap, but sometimes you
get the odd outsider that performs reasonably well. How do they
compare with the Marshalls and Voxs's.

Not sure what you're asking here. Are you asking us to approve you of
playing a hotshit guitar through a cheapshit amp all these years? Or are
you saying that you want to buy another one?

LOL. Well you've basically just answered it.

Just curious to how shit it actually is. ;) Never heard my guitar play
through any other amp, so obivously I'm missing out.

Ok, it's about time I got a decent amp. What will be the best match
for a Gibson Les Paul Standard with Gibson pickups (490's I think).

Is it always a marshall?

Sorry, forgot to say the sound I'm after.

Slash in GNR is a good example.

Well, I believe they put this site up for you then:
http://homepage.oniduo.pt/rupean/Slashsound.html

Basically you're looking for a smaller version featuring these: EL34
power tubes and ECC83 preamp tubes.

That'll get you close enough, I'd wager.

Thanks for that. Didn't see the 'Darren was asking too many questions
about Slash, so we created this site just for him' though... ;)
