Any problems with the Vox Valvetronix AD30VT combo amp?? -

I'm thinking of investing in a smallish practice amp so I don't have to
keep lugging my Atomic or 100-watt Crate amps around every week. I've
read a lot of good things about this 30-watt modeling combo by Vox; my
question is, does this thing have an achilles' heel? I can't believe
it's as perfect as I've been reading.

The only fault that I've heard about is the input jack being prone to
popping off very easily.

Thanks,

RF

I have the 15w version and I like it a lot.

If it's just for practice it's fine but live it doesn't cut it.

That's all I'm looking for.

Are you using one?

No, my roomate bought the 15.

Speaking of which why do you need the 30 if it's just practice?

I'd rather have a Blues Jr, but for the money that they are excellent
practice amps

It's a big rehearsal space (church praise band); plus I like the
built-in modeling flexibility so I don have to lug my modelers either
(we run the gamut of styles from gospel to rock, funk, bluegrass, etc.
We're not that talented, just ambitious ;-)

The 30W has a volume limiting knob on the back - the 15W does not have this.
You can set it to limit the output from 5W to 30W without, in theory, losing
and of the sound quality.

I bought one to use for my Church's praise band, a sizeable venue with in
house everything, big roland drum kit, tv production, the works, thinking I
could have everythoing at my fingertips and also control the volume. It was
OK, but did not cut it for me...the 60 1X12 model, but I ended up taking it
back. I instead started using my mesa 1X12 Maverick 35 watts, and pedal
effects. Ah, the sound of tubes again! I've had this Mesa since it was
introduced in 93? Also have an old 75 Marshall JMP half stack which I use in
arena settings, a SF Pro reverb, and the tone monster.....69 Ampeg vt40 4X10
combo.....way way too loud most of the time.
