pedal tuners - vader - 06:10 09-11-05

which one do you recomend?

boss tu2, is the standard, but it's very expensive
korg dt10, I've tried it, seems as good as the boss, bigger, and bit more
cheaper
fender pt-100, don't confuse it with the old pt-10, this is chromatic and
with note lights and much more cheaper
any other?

danelectro is no longer for sale, and wasn't very good, behringer is about
to release a new one VERY cheap, but who knows when it will be ready for
sale.

I have an Arion. It works, it's a good bang for the buck, but I wouldn't
reccomend it when you're an intensive gigger. Always thought it wasn't
accurate an reliable enough.

Get the boss, once you have to buy 3 or 4 of the other tuners the boss
doesn't seem so expiencive. If you are getting into the world of guitars,
100 bucks isn't so much.

I own a TU-2. Built like a tank, and worth the money, IMO. With a little
sensible care, i.e. not using it to pound nails, it should last you a LONG
time.

Re: pedal tuners - Jon Pickens - 11:39 10-11-05

FWIW: I was in a band where one guitarist had the Arion. He loved it.
The other guitarist hated the tuner on top of his amp, and wanted a
pedal tuner. The stores didn't have the Arion, just the Boss, and
maybe a DOD or something.

He bought the Boss. It worked reasonably well, but it was eating a 9V
battery at every gig. He thought it was possibly defective and
exchanged it for another with the exact same results. He returned it,
and used the money to order an Arion, and then used the leftover money
to stock up on strings ;-)

The two Arion pedals never died...and they were used in two 5-hour
gigs, and at least two 2-3 hour practices weekly.

Never did compare the Boss and Arion in terms of accuracy.

This was back in like '97, so I don't know if the power comsumption of
the Boss has improved. I will say that the Arion is made from fairly
destructable plastic whereas the Boss' "metal brick construction" could
be used as a weapon against a drunken bar patron.

Just my $.02

I don' t think Boss made the TU2 in '97?

I've got one and it rocks and the battery lasts forever.

One of my favorite features is that you can set it to tune say a half
step down and it remembers the setting.

I have the dano, paid $20 for it, works fine, I've matched it up against a
couple of others tuners (fender, korg) as well as a couple of computer
apps, and it's in tune. Built out of metal too. The switch is a little
dodgy though, but so far it hasn't failed me.

I'm looking to pick up another tuner, though, I'll keep the dano as a
backup.
