Like most live albums in the '70s, this one relies on long jams with building, master-controlled, cutting and ferocious guitar solos by Jan Akkerman, a guitarist that seemed to fuse at that particular moment all the main directions that rock and fusion guitar were pointing to. In fact, all the players of Focus were great virtuosos and interesting musicians. The music is a blend of jazz, rock and classical giving what was called back then "progressive rock". Focus is most of all great prog song writing coupled with some truly virtuoso playing.
